Gas Detector Servicing and Repair
Gas detectors only protect people if they work. Sensors age, filters block, batteries fade and instruments get dropped. 7 Solutions services, repairs and calibrates portable and fixed gas detectors of any brand from our workshop in Waltham Chase, Hampshire, with engineers covering the South and the North of England.
What a portable service includes
Inspection of the case, display, alarms, pump, filters and charging contacts.
Sensor response check and full calibration against certified gas.
Alarm set-point check and adjustment to your requirements.
Replacement of failed sensors, filters and batteries, quoted before fitting.
Firmware and data-log checks where the instrument supports them.
A traceable calibration certificate for each instrument.
Standard prices
We charge one rate per instrument type, whatever the brand: single gas monitors £40, 4-gas monitors £50, multigas monitors £90 and PIDs £140 (excl. VAT). Parts are extra and always quoted first. Book on our calibration and service page.
Repairs
Common faults include failed or poisoned sensors, cracked cases and screens, blocked pumps and inlet filters, worn charging contacts and batteries that no longer last a shift. We repair where it makes economic sense and tell you honestly when replacement is the better option.
Brands we service
Our engineers are trained on Honeywell (BW and RAE), WatchGas, Dräger, Crowcon, MSA, Industrial Scientific, GMI, Oldham and more. We are a Crowcon service centre. See our pages on Crowcon, Honeywell and WatchGas detectors.
Fixed gas detection servicing
For installed systems our engineers visit site to gas test and calibrate each detector, check the control panel, test sounders, beacons, relays and any ventilation or shut-off actions, and record the results. Most sites need a visit every six or twelve months, depending on the manufacturer and your risk assessment. See our fixed gas detection guide.
Between services: bump testing
A bump test before each day's use proves the sensors respond and the alarms sound. If a bump test fails, the monitor needs calibration before it is used again. Our gas detection training covers daily checks, from £750 a day on site or £350 for a three-hour online session.
